About Us: The Church of God is a last church, believing and teaching the King James Version of the Bible as the literal Word of God. We are a "Theocracy", meaning, God Rules. Everything that is instituted in The Church of God must first have the approval of the Holy Ghost  then our General Assembly. We do not accept nor believe in man made creeds. We  believe that prayer and fasting, and searching for Gods will in ALL matters helps us in our commission that Christ gave...."Go Ye into all the world!
Our International Headquarters are located in Cleveland, Tennessee with Bishop Stephen Smith as our General Overseer. Here in Alabama our State Headquarters are located in Lakeview, Alabama, (near McCalla and Bessemer), with Bishop Robert Hawkins as our State Overseer. We have churches throughout many areas of the United States and the world. Our mission is to reach souls for Christ and to bring them into the knowledge of The Bride of Christ. TO FIND US:
 
To find our church, we are in Sumiton, Alabama, just 1 mile off of U.S. Hwy 78, between Birmingham and Jasper. Coming from Birmingham follow U.S. 78 West to Sumiton. Turn left onto Bryan Road at the red light between Walmart and Walgreens and go 1 mile. From Jasper, go U. S. 78 East to Sumiton, turn right at Walgreens and go 1 mile. The Church will be on your left. After services, or if you are just passing through, and  you need food, gas, or something else, let us recommend our friends at the following places.

Lee's Family Restaurant. If your looking for some home style veggies or maybe a Ribeye steak, Lee's has it. Breakfast? No problem! Even a Buffet on Saturday morning for you breakfast lovers. Doug Ragsdale owns this restaurant which has served the Sumiton area for many years. He and his staff would love to have you to stop in. If you are coming from Jasper, Lee's is on the right just before you get into town, on the US 78 East. Coming from Birmingham, stay on US 78 West. Pass by Walmart and go about 2 miles. Just as you are leaving town it's on your left!
 
Subway: We have two Subways in the Dora/Sumiton area. Both are excellent choices. There is one located in the Wal-mart and the other is on Hwy 78. Going out of Sumiton it is located in the Alabama Power Office mini complex on the left. Coming from Jasper it is on your right just past McDonald s. These two Subways are clean!, and the food is fresh!
 
****Garibaldi Mexican Restaurant: When in Sumiton, Alabama you might be looking for some delicious Mexican food. Well, Garibaldi's is the place to stop. Located on Bryan Road, just off of Hwy 78 west. Coming from 78
East, (From Jasper), just turn left at the red light where Walgreens is located, or right coming from Birmingham. They are located right next to Little Caesars Pizza. Omellette Shoppe: Sue and her friendly Staff  run this local restaurant, where breakfast, lunch or dinner is served 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If a really high health score is important to you, this restaurant stays in the mid to upper 90's. Great food for you, or maybe just a great cup of coffee! Waffles! Steaks (fresh)! Burgers, soups, chills and more. Where are they? Coming from Birmingham, as you arrive in Sumiton, they are right across the hi way 78 from Walmart/Murphy s Gas and coming from Jasper they are 1/2 past Walgreens on the right.

2nd Wednesday: 7:00 P.M. : WMB (Womens Missionary Band). Learn what our missionaries are doing and how you can help.
 
3rd Wednesday: 7:00 P.M.: CPMA (Church of Prophecy Marker Association). Learn how we are markers for Christ and how we are marking various historical sites with memorial markers.
 
4th Wednesday: 7:00 P.M.: BTI (Bible Training Institute) A study in the Word of God.
 
5th Wednesday: 7:00 P.M. (when necessary) Prayer Meeting.
 
Local Events:
 
Each 4th Sunday after morning worship is Dinner day. Come enjoy some of the best home cooking you will ever eat. mmmm! mmmm! Proceeds go to Pastors Assembly Expense.
 
1st and 3rd Sunday is breakfast! Come enjoy breakfast, it is free! (you can donate is you wish, all donations go to the "Children s Ministries" and Youth Ministries. Served from 8:30 to 9:30 am
 
 
Each 1st Sunday is Pastor appreciation Day. Bring your pound of groceries, cleaning supplies, etc. for our Pastor. Remember this is also the only Sunday we take up a Love offering for him.
